{"id":17270,"date":"2019-10-31T09:56:15","date_gmt":"2019-10-31T08:56:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/php8.plastv.de\/?p=17270"},"modified":"2019-10-30T09:57:17","modified_gmt":"2019-10-30T08:57:17","slug":"third-quarter-2019-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/plas.tv\/?p=17270","title":{"rendered":"Third-quarter 2019 results"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"paragraphs\">\n<div class=\"paragraph paragraph--with1cols paragraph-number-1\">\n<div class=\"paragraph-column paragraph-column-1 o  o  o paragraph-column-1-is-1\">\n<div class=\"paragraph-column-inner\">\n<div class=\"paragraph-column-element\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sales<\/strong> up 2.3% year on year to <strong>\u20ac2,216 million<\/strong>, supported by 0.7% growth in volumes<\/li>\n<li>Very good level of <strong>EBITDA<\/strong> at <strong>\u20ac385 million<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Up by <strong>3<\/strong>% relative to the record level reached in 2018<\/li>\n<li>Driven by the strong increase of specialty businesses\u00a0<sup>(1)<\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>EBITDA margin<\/strong> of <strong>17.4%<\/strong> (17.3% in third-quarter 2018), resilient at a high level in a more challenging and uncertain macroeconomic environment<\/li>\n<li><strong>Adjusted net income<\/strong> of <strong>\u20ac166 million<\/strong>, representing 7.5% of sales<\/li>\n<li>Strong <strong>free cash flow<\/strong> generation of <strong>\u20ac218 million<\/strong>, in continuity with the first half<\/li>\n<li><strong>Net debt<\/strong> at <strong>\u20ac1,770 million<\/strong> (<strong>1.2<\/strong> times LTM EBITDA), including the recent acquisition of ArrMaz and of our partner\u2019s remaining stake in Sunke<\/li>\n<li>Ongoing <strong>portfolio transformation<\/strong> towards specialties, with the planned divestment\u00a0<sup>(2)<\/sup> of Functional Polyolefins announced on 14 October<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph paragraph--with1cols paragraph-number-2\">\n<div class=\"paragraph-column paragraph-column-1 o  o  o paragraph-column-1-is-1\">\n<div class=\"paragraph-column-inner\">\n<div class=\"paragraph-column-element\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p>Arkema\u2019s Board of Directors met on 29 October 2019 to review the Group\u2019s consolidated financial statements for the third quarter of 2019. Commenting the results, Chairman and CEO Thierry Le H\u00e9naff highlighted the following points:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe third quarter was marked by the Group\u2019s very good financial performance in a macroeconomic environment which remains globally challenging, as well as by the continued proactive portfolio transformation towards specialties, with the planned divestment\u00a0<sup>(2)<\/sup> of the Functional Polyolefins business, the acquisitions of Prochimir and Lambson, and polymer capacity expansions for the 3D printing and battery markets.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Third-quarter results showed contrasting trends between our different product lines and confirm the improving momentum of specialties, notably around the three long-term growth pillars, namely adhesives, advanced materials and performance coatings.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Specialty businesses\u2019 EBITDA rose significantly despite lower volumes, thanks to strong pricing, an improved product mix, a more favorable raw materials environment and the consolidation of ArrMaz. Adhesives\u2019 EBITDA continued to grow strongly, up by nearly 20% at constant scope compared with the third quarter of 2018. The marked decline of Fluorogases weighed negatively however on the overall performance of intermediate\u00a0<sup>(1)<\/sup> businesses, despite the resilience of Acrylics and MMA\/PMMA.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In this less favorable external environment, the quality of our results rewards our teams\u2019 engagement and efforts, and validate the Group\u2019s continued strategic refocusing of the business portfolio. The acquisitions we have carried out so far have made an important contribution to our Group\u2019s resilience and performance.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><sub><sup>(1)<\/sup> The Group distinguishes intermediate businesses, corresponding to the PMMA, Fluorogases and Acrylics Business Lines, and specialty businesses<\/sub><br \/>\n<sub><sup>(2)<\/sup> The transaction is subject to an information and consultation process involving Arkema\u2019s employee representative bodies and to the approval of the relevant antitrust authorities<\/sub><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph paragraph--with1cols paragraph-number-3\">\n<div class=\"paragraph-column paragraph-column-1 o highlighted o  o paragraph-column-1-is-1\">\n<div class=\"paragraph-column-inner highlighted-inner\">\n<div class=\"paragraph-column-element\">\n<div class=\"subtitle\">\n<h3>Outlook for 2019<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text\">\n<p>For the remainder of the year, the macroeconomic environment is expected to remain challenging and volatile, with continued geopolitical uncertainties likely to weigh on global demand and raw materials prices, leading to cautious inventory management by our customers. In this context, Arkema will maintain its focus on internal momentum and the implementation of its long-term strategy.<\/p>\n<p>The Group will therefore continue to roll out its industrial projects, its operational excellence initiatives, its innovation drive for sustainable development and mobility, and its targeted acquisition dynamic. In the fourth quarter, intermediate businesses should be well below last year\u2019s level, penalized mainly by a strong decline in Fluorogases.
