{"id":30229,"date":"2022-02-23T10:46:50","date_gmt":"2022-02-23T09:46:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/php8.plastv.de\/?p=30229"},"modified":"2022-02-23T10:50:06","modified_gmt":"2022-02-23T09:50:06","slug":"solvay-expands-its-us-based-sulfone-polymers-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/plas.tv\/?p=30229","title":{"rendered":"Solvay Expands Its US-Based Sulfone Polymers Business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The multi-year plan will address strong customer demand growth in life science applications, with first steps to include significant capacity increases for Solvay&#8217;s Udel<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> PSU and upstream integration in DCDPS monomer.<\/p>\n<p>Solvay announces an ambitious expansion plan for its U.S.-based sulfone business, which focuses on polymer solutions for various critical life science applications, as part of its ongoing commitment to build capacity in this field to support a growing global customer base.<\/p>\n<p>The full scope of the multi-year expansion plans will ultimately touch all of Solvay&#8217;s sulfone polymers including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solvay.com\/en\/brands\/udel-psu\">Udel<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> polysulfones (PSU)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solvay.com\/en\/brands\/veradel-pesu\">Veradel<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> polyether sulfones (PESU)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solvay.com\/en\/brands\/radel-ppsu\">Radel<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> polyphenyl sulfones (PPSU)<\/a>. The first major investment steps will include a capacity increase for Udel<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> PSU of over 25% by 2024 at the company\u2019s production site in Marietta, Ohio, with much of this increase expected online by early 2023. Likewise, to strengthen Solvay\u2019s leading position in the market, production capacity for dichlorodiphenyl sulfone (DCDPS) \u2014 an important common building block used in all sulfone polymers \u2014 will also be expanded by more than 25% by 2024, resulting in capacity increases at the company\u2019s Augusta, Georgia site by end of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new multi-year program marks an important step in our strategy for future growth and affirms our number one position in the U.S. sulfone polymers market,\u201d says Carmelo Lo Faro, president of Solvay&#8217;s Materials segment. \u201cEssentially, the expansions will address the growth potential of our sulfone products in high-performance life-saving and life-sustaining areas, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solvay.com\/en\/solutions-market\/healthcare\">healthcare<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solvay.com\/en\/solutions-market\/resources-environment-energy\/water-treatment\">water purification<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solvay.com\/en\/chemical-categories\/specialty-polymers\/healthcare\/biopharma-processing\">pharma processing<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Key application market segments to benefit from these investments include hemodialysis, medical instruments and pharmaceuticals \u2014 in both development and production, and water purification, where Solvay expects strong double-digit growth in terms of global demand.
